I made up the bar mark has when I swaped my knackerd Leda coilovers for gaz a few years ago. When we dropped the front stuts of you could grab the arb and see the chassis flex at the mounting points hence the need for some extra strength really it is a lower strut brace. Now I have the tension struts on which use the arb mounts a new box section has been fabricated and welded in with some stiffing as well.

Re: Mark's Tango'd 323i
Well I've had my car back for a week or so now and have had time to get used to some of the changes that were made.
The brakes have been a vast improvement over the standard set-up and the EBC Green pads have bedded in nicely. I'm not sure how they perform when compared to other makes but one thing I do like, is the reduced amount of brake dust left on the wheels.
The only change left is to fit a pair of Mini One brake discs. They are about 21mm larger than stock but require a hubcentric spacer to centre them properly. The hub bore is 1.1mm larger than stock hence the need for the spacer and you need to drill for the locating screw. These are only £49.99 a pair.

The steering rack has made the steering feel much sharper and more direct although it is obviously quite heavy now. It's OK so long as the tyres are kept up to pressure and I'm running them at 32psi. The K-mac top mounts are also fitted and despite my concerns, have proved to be OK for road use. I've made sure the bearings are kept well greased beneath the dust covers too.

My new engine will be going in over the next few weeks although I'm not sure it'll be before Gaydon? Probably just after. I'll be fitting new cambelt, tensioner and water-pump while its out of the car too. I'll be bolting the 6 branch on too so hopefully it'll crack 200bhp once I get it on the dyno and 220 with a live re-map?

Then it's a lot of small jobs like finishing the gauges, fitting harness & rear cage etc.

You do know you will need a new caliper bracket to work with those disks and have you checked they will fit under a 15 wheel as the Volvo calipers are quite tall
