Brake problem

Post by Eire21 »

Folks,

I have an 82 316

The car has been laid up in the garage for a week or two, went to take it out last night for a run and the brake pedal went straight to the floor. The brakes seem to work ok but they do not bite until the pedal is practically right down?

I checked the fluid level and it was fine, then checked the garage floor for any leaks. Also checked around the MC for leaks but nothing obvious there either...

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks
Rich

Air in the system maybe? Check flexible hoses. I have seen it where they fail and blow up like a balloon when the pedal is pushed down.

If you can not see any leaks it is most likely one of the rear cylinders as most of the fluid ends up inside the drum
