1982 carburetor

Post by micklethwaite »

Hello,The carbs gone on my 1982 E21 316 1766, the garage where it is don't know what to replace it with or where to get one from. I don't really know much about this so any help from people who do would be great.

Would this one work. BMW E30 316 UPGRADE 32 34 DMTL WEBER CARB , E21

Cheers

It should do I think? Southern Carbs used to list an e21 specific carb. The other guys might know more but wouldn't a 2002 one be better suited than the e30 version?

The carb will be jetted fine, as it's the same engine on the early e30 316, you'll want to check is that it comes with the adapter plate for the manifold tho, then it should bolt straight on. You'll also have to fit the choke pull somewhere in your dash, as it'll be a manual choke.

Hope this helps.

There is a 32/34 dmtl for a vw golf, but I'm sure you'll need the bm 316 (e21/e30) adapter plate, so best to get the whole lot together.

Why don't you find another 316 at the wreckers and buy the carb off that? I'm pretty sure it's the same carb used on the e12 518 (after about 1980), e30 316 and e28 518 which might increase your chances.

Try the nice man at fast road cars. Expensive but comes as a complete kit. Make sure he understands it's a replacement for the zenith and not the pierburg, that way you will get the proper plate. Pk
