E30 engine conversion questions
Could an early type 325 engine from an E30 be used with motronic 1.3 instead of the previous version ??

Re: E30 engine conversion questions
Is it just a case of using the loom and ecu from a 1.3 version or are there any other issues ?? ta

No issues, on the early 325 (hi comp) you will need to take the distributor off and fit a blanking plug and fit a motronic cam pulley at the front of engine and also change the water pump to the 323i (e21) and sorted!!

Re: E30 engine conversion questions
Cool, think ive got those extra bits to add. Are the electrics all the same then ?? Also is there any advantage to the higher comp version or would it be a better idea to just go for 1.3 motronic to start off with ?
I know all this has been covered like a gizillion times, but what else would need changing for this..eg driveshaft, diff, halfshafts?? Cheers

Re: E30 engine conversion questions
you mean from a preface lift e30? its actually the best engine to use tbh. as its a slightly higher compression ratio then the later 325i turd. they used motronic 1/1.1 dont they? best to use the 1.3. on it for the powerz
you'll need to fit the front pulley with cranksensor on the little bracket. jimis right on the water pump + dizzy, campulley. tho theres a little cog under the dizzy blanking plate that it'll need, drives the oil pump shaft.
youll need the 1.3 inlet manifold/injectors and throttle body. 1.3 loom. ecu, afm, plug leads, top cam cover..........
etc etc etc blah blah you get the idea............
