Rear spoiler mounting methods

Post by E21meister »

I've bought a FOHA rear spoiler to go on my car and I'm trying to find the best way to mount it. The existing one looks like it has some kind of double-sided tape and some adhesive I can't identify.
Which type of double sided tape and/or glue would be the best for a spoiler? I have seen VHB Gel Tape mentioned before. Would this do the job?

DOUBLE SIDED VHB GEL TAPE 25mm x 5mtr STRONG ADHESIVE on eBay

Would it better better to use something like Sikaflex instead and if so which one?

The tape idea doesn't work. I was going to use it on mine. I ended up bonding mine on and it was the best solution by far.

Had the same problem mate, I used sticky back tape (was recommended, but I didnt shop around) and made the holes in the boot lid for the spoiler bolts, all seemed excellent but the tape soon let go and became warped with gaps everywhere. Im now buying a new brand lid fo $550!! Do as much research as possible before you try attaching with any adhesive, it a very expensive trial and error method to fit. Best of luck!

Both the old and new(er) spoilers have no threaded bolts inset, so I've tapped the new one to fit 8mm 8.8TS stainless bolts, as someone had done the same on the old one.
