hubcentric spacers
the spacers i currently have on the car don't have a lip so they don't centre to the wheel, this means it's a complete ball ache to change the wheels, and is literally impossible (or so it seems!) to change wheels without having 2 people present. this is because the wheel has nothing to rest on, so you need 1 person to life the wheels up and align the spacer holes with the wheel bolt holes, and the other person to screw the bolts in.
would hubcentric spacers allow the wheel to rest, so you'd only need 1 person to change the wheel?
cheers

Re: hubcentric spacers
Should do. Could you not use a little spot of silicon or something to stick your spacers in place?

Re: hubcentric spacers
because the centre bore size where it fits onto the hub is not the correct size to fit (it's way oversize), if you stick it on with something, you won't know if it'll line up properly, so it can't be done that way, sadly. it's hard to explain, but trust me, i've thought about it
i'm just wondering whether to just bite the bullet and get some decent hubcentric ones, instead of cheapy generics.

Re: hubcentric spacers
hmmm, it appears you can't get hubcentric under 15mm?
Re: hubcentric spacers
yes you can get 11mm ones, I have some think they were made by h&r? they are alloy and hubcentric, weigh nowt but cost loads.

Re: hubcentric spacers
ideally, i just want 5mm. is there any way i can get some, so i don't need someone else to help me change the wheels?
it's a 2min job usually, this takes it into a 2 man 10min job, it's a right pain. if not, no worries.

Re: hubcentric spacers
I had some made a couple of years back. It's a simple enough job.

Re: hubcentric spacers
not sure if my dad would be willing to make some, as said before, he owns an aerospace engineering firm so that could easily do it, but it would take up machine time. might get him to have a look at some point and see what he reckons.RetroBeemer wrote:I had some made a couple of years back. i wouldn't pay someone for a 4 off job, would cost a fortune i'd have thought.
i could have aerospace grade material spacers
Re: hubcentric spacers
Can you not get a stud to fit in the hole - my Audi came with a plastic plug thing that slots in. You can stick that in the hole, put the wheel over it, put in a couple of bolts then take the stud out and fit the last bolt. Or even do a stud conversion and do away with the bolts.

Re: hubcentric spacers
Cost me £30. 4 alloy pieces with a 57mm hole in the middle and 4 stud holes.pistonheader wrote:not sure if my dad would be willing to make some, as said before, he owns an aerospace engineering firm so that could easily do it, but it would take up machine time. might get him to have a look at some point and see what he reckons.RetroBeemer wrote:I had some made a couple of years back. Stud conversion would be simplest if you can't find a suitable spigot ring.
Re: hubcentric spacers
why not get a stud + nut conversion kit insted of bolts?

linky to hubcentric rings anyone?
i could do with a set to fit the 15x7 rials from my 325e with et29 offset onto my e21.

Re: hubcentric spacers
You cannot get 5mm hubcentric and I got wheel wobble even with a 3mm spacer, from my experince bmw's do not like spacers unless they are hubcentric as that is how the wheel is designed to be centred on the hub. Unlike ford which use the bolts to centre the wheel.
Wheel changing is easy even with spacer just use the proper tool from the toolkit in the boot for a 1 man job
under 10-11mm spacers you needs to get a hub extender made to work with a non hubcentric spacer,
