Wow I never realised quite how extensive the build on your car was!
What sort of power you hoping for from the new engine?
I vote orange bolts on the wheels, would look sweet, as opposing adding another colour to your car with gold ones.

Well on a bastardized K-jet set-up it made 198bhp and the guy who's doing the live re-map reckons 220 should be easy enough to get with the 6 branch fitted along with the uni-chip and MAF sensor.

sounds like it'll be a bit of a weapon! Any idea what the 2.5 will be running in the form i'm recieving it?
I'm looking forward to running injection, i've had enough of this carb malarky.
My mate runs an E30 on a 2.5i thats been cammed and has m-tech running gear, along with a performance clutch and shortshifter, it's going to be a slippery slope when I try to do enough to be able to keep up with it, but i'm happy to be on it haha.

I have a dyno print-out @ 174bhp but it's running a better chip now and the 6 branch makes quite a difference. It's no slouch I promise you.

pretty awesome increase on a struggling 122bhp (probably more like 100 haha). Yeah i'm just looking for a solution to my manifold problems, looks like it going to cost more than the engine itself!

I know that Dave @ E21-Revival runs a single silencer system on his 2.5 and it sounds awesome.

I have been doing the old Miss Marple routine and trying to research the history of my new engine. I got a break when Kam09 told me where he'd bought the car that it originally came from, so I dropped them a mail.

I got a reply and it seems that my engine was built up from scratch using 325e, 325i & 323i parts by a guy called Matt Durys. He built it up from scratch and blueprinted everything as he went. A Schrick fast road cam was also fitted which I guess goes some way to explaining why it made such good power on the old K-jet. Matt certainly knew his cars and ran a few Jags as well as a TVR Griffith 500 which he also modified. Sadly Matt only got to enjoy his e21 for a short while as he died from Cancer aged just 37. I'd like to think that he would have approved of where all his hard work has ended up!?

Matt Durys and his TVR.

Mark that guy next to the TVR is he the one who sadly passed away with cancer?

Yes mate. Sad at just 37 too.

Been busy with the polish this evening. One down, three to go.

Decided just to go with chrome bolts instead of gold.

What a shame, life taken so young. At least the engine is (sort of) a fitting epitaph to his talent. Perhaps some kind of Aston Martin-style engine builder plaque might be a nice touch.

It's a possibility.

Just spent an hour taking apart my new wheels and breaking them down into their 3 parts. I cannot believe how light they are compared to normal alloys! The out rims have been sent off to be machine polished. I could get quite a nice finish by hand but there were a couple of bits of kerb rash I wanted removed. I'm going to re-tap the threads on the centres so that the new bolts can be torqued properly and new neoprene seals are on order along with anodized bolts. Hopefully, they'll be ready for me to fit once the new engine is in towards the end of next week. I'm still searching for some new centre caps although BBS ones might fit along with new BMW caps.

No news on the repaint yet although it's supposed to be ready on Monday in time for me to drop it over to Dave for the engine to go in. The new spigot bearing has been fitted along with cambelt, water-pump etc. I'm considering these injectors...

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of them?

I had a feeling it had a nice cam, nice find! Great engine, but the car fell to bits around it...

I guess that's why it was able to make the power it did despite the aged K-jet.

Finally got my car back from paint today and my spoiler is back in one piece. I also have a shiny new bumper all the way from Ze Farderland! It's nice but were it not an insurance job I don't think I'd be shelling out the kind of money it cost. It's good to have my car back though, even if it is just for a day. It's off to have the 2.7 dropped in tomorrow.
