No Oil Feed to Cylinder Head

i have a whole cylinder head downstairs built up but can take apart if you need to know which way certain bits goes etc if it helps, take photos n what not

Just done my 2 litre M10 so it's all fresh in my mind. ( but then so are several Fosters!)

Oil is fed to the head up the rear inlet side head stud. The futhest left 10mm headed bolt on the dizzy drive casting at the back of the head goes into the gallery and has a rubber seal inside it. If you take the bolt out oil should piss out when the motor is started. If it doesn't, the problem if futher down than the head. Try starting the motor also with the pressure switch removed. That'll prove if the rocker shafts are at fault.

The oil drilling in the top of the block next to the rear stud is quite small and would be easy to bung up with bits of old gasket or a bit too much silicone......

Hi All.

Lots of very good progress made today.

Turns out when inserting the rocker shafts back into the head when rebuilding, the plugs in the rocker shafts had moved along the shaft.

Inlet rocker shaft should have open back end. And plugged front end.
Exhaust rocker shaft has 2 plugged ends.
This allows oil to flow through the rocker shafts and the open end allows it to flow to the oil pressure sensor by the dizzy.

I dropped the rad off, cam chain & pulley, etc, then used a 1m length of M8 threaded bar poked through the front grill which was dead inline with the rocker shafts. Pressed all 3 aluminium plugs out of the rocker shafts with gentle pressure with a mallet. All with the head in place.

Then reinserted them in the ends in the correct places with a dab of loctite, managed to get everything back together but having to wat on a sump gasket, so cant turn her over until the morning.

99% Sure i will have solved the problem.

i have a hairline crack on one of the plugs on my inlet rocker shaft, can you just buy new caps or do you have to buy whole shafts? i damaged it when removing and sending the head off

well i may strip down that e30 injection head as all the bits in that look minty new, and i can use my existing rocker shaft thats fooked as a drive to push it out so i dont damage them.
