temp gauge

the tempeture gauge on my e21 fitted wit an e30 325 engine stays at half way then jumps to 3/4 ways and back again fitted a new temp switch and made no differanceany ideas

Check the earth on the instrument cluster.

arnt there some tiny little nuts going thru the printed circuit on the back of the ins. cluster that get high resistance in them..... ive read it somewhere on here ages ago.
loosen them off then tighten them up sorts it out, cleaning up the connection?
