Wobbly rear wheel and clunking noise
Re: Wobbly rear wheel and clunking noise
Engine is still on that pallet, and it's a 323i one. I suspect it will be staying there until you arrive!
Arshads e30 clutch will probably be same as the one I need, shall seek price. If not Murran bringing one sounds good.
Arshad get your car out of that place, I can be free part of any of the next three weekends just on call or looking after kids so can't do much myself. You and Murran can do stuff down at my workshop.

Okey Kokey,
Well I should have it in the garage somewhere. Thanks for the offer of the workshop Jim, went back to them today, perhaps he's not that bad. Found the cause of the petrol leak, which was a cracked T connector. Wobbly wheel might just be a loose crown nut whose threading is shot.
I've ordered both parts, should be there for Friday, of course he doesn't really seem arsed either way, so that actually might be a good thing. Not sure how much he's going to sting me at the end. That's it for now.

There is a huge choice of washer sizes that makes up the packer for the bearings, so you have to get the space measured and fitted with the right sized spacer washers. If you dont there will be a space, and there will be a wobble.

And I initally bought an E21 323i bearing kit from ebay by FAG that didn't actually fit. Had the old bearing taken out and and bought an exact sized replacement from a place called Bearings Mart (cost me a tenner over BMW's 60), so I know it's the right size.
See if a new crown nut will make a difference I guess.

I was just about to suggest checking the castle nut before i read on... My rear wheel fell off due to a dodgy castle nut or lack of pin! It was only a couple of weeks ago and I was doing 85mph!

Should have said really, thats exactly what it was in the end. The thread on the crown nut had come off. I was doing 80-85 on the motorway a few days before! Everything O.K with you and the car? Where in Manchester are you?TobyA wrote:I was just about to suggest checking the castle nut before i read on... My rear wheel fell off due to a dodgy castle nut or lack of pin! I was fine, thanks, and the car got off with a grazed anti-roll bar, mangled brake shield and dink in the rear arch and rim. It was nice and scary though.arshad76 wrote: Should have said really, thats exactly what it was in the end. The thread on the crown nut had come off. I'm in West Didsbury, South Manchester, and you? I'd be well up for a Manc meet... (that is after getting an MOT!)

Well thanks god for that! Oh small world. I'm in between Hulme and Macclesfield. I saw in your other posts you work at Uni Of Salford. I'm employed by them as an MSc Dissertation Supervisor. Yeah would be good to meet up, I know Doc Jim pretty well, he's definitely what you'd call an enthusiast!
