Fuel Filter

Hi guys, does anyone know the location of the fuel filter on a 1.6 316 ? I've followed the fuel line from beneath the car till the pump and its not there, so i'm guessing its somewhere near the fuel tank?

All my M10 engined cars had one of those clear plastic ones in the fuel line at the front end near the carb.

yeah, a little in line thingy no none return valve, get some pipe clamps too then i guess

Thanks for the answers guys, i guess the previous owner had it removed for some weird reason ...
