New car colour (new mirrors)

Post by tedroy1 »

Hi All

Not posted for a while.

My E21 has been off the road for nearly a year now.

I purchased a Purple E21 over 2 years ago (my 3rd E21) it had loads done to it. But looked a little to Max Power for my likings.

I saw the potential so bought it, and set out putting it back to standard.

I always toyed with the idea of changing it to a standard E21 colour, but could never justify the expense.

Anyway as fate would have it, about a year back my paintwork got damaged. A guy was leaf blowing on a stone drive and pebble dashed my whole car.

My insurance company wrote the car off (£4,000 to re-paint whole car)

I bought the car back, and thought right im gonna change the colour, and this is what I have done.

I will post the finished pictures tomorrow

Cant decide on chrome mirrors ot the standard plastic ones.

very nice color! wich one is it?
what happened to motorsport front spoiler?
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car. Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you take the wall with you.

if you have it, it would be a shame to hang it on the wall in garage..

Wish i had a garage.

It may go back on, just going for the factory standard look right now.

You in the market for a motorsport spoiler then?

My paintshop boys have done me proud. The car looks awesome. Stick the motorsport spoiler back on, it will look like the dogs under carriage.

Quite a leap from it's previous modified looks to factory standard I guess, but I'm a sucker for the latter so I think I'll like the finished result.

As for the mirrors, with your current choices I'd go for what used to be factory fitted in your build year, what year is it?

I prefer the Chrome mirror look but I agree with what J said, its not “in keeping” with the year of manufacture (1982/3). The actual doors on the chrome mirror cars are slightly different.

Looks really nice in Safari. Much better than purple imo. Are you leaving the rims alone or doing them white like the Safari, roof-racked 02 that's quite well known? Not keen on the Vadars - always look too big. Very nice car.

I actually bought a roof rack last week, may give it a go. I'm not aware of those white rims.
