Presumably the batmobile was given some sort of let off for the sound level camera transgression and let out again???

Key ring - we want pics.

What maser was it? Don't recall seeing one, but I did spend most of the time with head in hands/tears in eyes due to my engine issue.

Have discovered cable on ebay for 30 quid, software is a free download - at least I'll know for next time. Mind you still don't know what the fault is so may be unfixable at the track situation even if I knew what it was wrong.

I have to question the logic of why the CC had the national trackday at a time of year when the weather's bound to be a bit iffy. Surely they should have picked a venue where they could hold it with the annual show over two days?

I booked the national trackday back in November '09 - at the time of booking Silverstone only had two affordable dates, both of them in October.
We have ran the National event in September/October for all the years I have been in the Club - and now I am in charge of booking them I know why - there is just no way we could afford Silverstone in the summer months.. yesterday cost us £25k to hire the place.. It would be over £35k in peak season.

We do have spring and summer trackdays - Cadwell and Croft - they can be wet as well

Please don't have a pop at me cos it was a bit damp - I had 100 entries yesterday, I think most of them enjoyed it

it's a day for learning how to drive your car better and apart from those of us with technical issues preventing actually doing more than 1 lap and people who crashed I am sure everyone used the challenge to improve themselves. I only had a few laps, with no real power, cold tyres and straight at the start of the session when it had been raining. Anyone who could actually do proper laps had more fun.

Oultom park 2nd November is the next event - it will quite probably rain there and we shall enjoy ourselves. My car will be fixed by then and I'll get it run on the dyno to make sure!

I'm not 'having a pop', I'm just asking a question. Just hire a cheaper place in the summer, Silverstone's a lovely place to be (having attended more than one British GP), but it ain't that nice I'd risk totalling my car in wet weather, never mind drive 80-odd miles to spectate. Why do you think the latter third of the F1 season is held in climes in the southern equator?
And yes, I am aware of the concept of rain in summer in the UK, having gone to Brighton Speed Trials this year in damp conditions to take pics for a website, but surely you stand a better chance of dry days than in the autumn?
Just throwing it out there.

I do - our Summer event is at Croft Circuit and has been on the second Monday in July since we started going there in 1996, and we have done Cadwell Park and Bedford Autodrome in August some years.

For the national event you really want to be at Donington or Silverstone, no where else really cuts it for an event like this.

Having said all that, I have been looking at the new Stowe Circuit that is inside the main circuit. It has had a makeover and has improved a lot - that could be an extra summer event for us but it is still not big enough to host the national.

Because, the 4300+vat we are paying for it next month rises to 13500+vat during the summer. that would mean charging everyone £250 to break even.

Croft costs £7000+vat

On those prices I vote for continuing to support Croft as much as possible!
