I have spoken with Ken, the sales manager, and the guy that bought the car new. As I have said, it started life as a German built C1 but once he'd driven the TWR demonstrator 174bhp just wasn't enough!
I thought all German built C1's were LHD and it was the Sytner cars that were RHD hence why they are all known as 323i on the V5. Did TWR not buy the cars from Synter prior to the conversion.

Re: TWR 335i
TWR had nothing to do with Sytner. They were building Jags by the time Sytner started offering Alpina conversions.

Re: TWR 335i
I know they didnt have anything to do with each other but surely Sytner were building Alpinas around '82/'83, the same era as your beast.
So did your car start off as a LHD. Just confused how it started of as a German C1.

Re: TWR 335i
Sytner started building cars after TWR stopped. At time of my car TWR were the sole importers of Alpina cars. Sytner actually did very few E21's. TWR sales told me that my car had been ordered and built in Germany prior to import.

Re: TWR 335i
Have decided to fit a Schrick camshaft to the new head once it's back from pressure testing. Cams on order and won't be here for another week or so anyway. I'm still looking into just what can be done to improve an M30 head? I have heard that e34 inlet valves offer a good improvement over stock?
It seems the brake upgrade are actually Alpina items and are the exact same specification as the old County Championship cars. I have sent a few mails to try and get exact details.

Re: TWR 335i
Mark, does your M30 run on the standard inlet manifold???
I have 2 sets of M88 Throttle bodies if you want to go down that route.
I'm keeping one for my M30 conversion for the E21, if you want the other let me know, or it'll sit in the garage as spares for me.

Re: TWR 335i
How hard would they be to fit? Any photos? Can you PM a price too?
Re: TWR 335i
To fit these you need an adaptor plate, easy to fit.RetroBeemer wrote:How hard would they be to fit? Any photos? Can you PM a price too?
Jason pm'd me a link to one in Germany.
All you do is adaptor plate on, Throttle bodies on, and hook up fuel supply, but iirc it needs ms,emerald or something similar to run it.

Re: TWR 335i
shouldnt really need aftermarket engine managment to run throttle bodies. but you would need all the airbox etc.
you could then just get it mapped/chipped. will run more air but m88 still runs a airflow meter right? would sound epic!!!!!

I thought this car was going to stay standard like the way it came out of the Leafield factory ?

Re: TWR 335i
Thanks anyway Rav but it's a bit more involved than the route I plan to take. I've ordered the cam and I'm going to just flow the head and run Motronic for reliability. That way, it stays true to the plan TWR had for it.Rav320uk wrote:To fit these you need an adaptor plate, easy to fit.RetroBeemer wrote:How hard would they be to fit? Any photos? Re: TWR 335i
I thought M30s ran L-jet anyway? I guess this car would be a couple of years too early for LE1-jet, assuming the engine is the same spec as in the E23/E24.

Re: TWR 335i
It would have run L-jet but, as I said, in the interest of reliability I'm fitting Motronic. I guess the old L-jet could always be re-fitted if I ever sold it? Unlikely though.
Re: TWR 335i
Oh I have the lot, M88 throttle bodies x 2 sets, Plenium, TPS, Fuel rail x 2 ,basically the lot.austin25uk wrote:shouldnt really need aftermarket engine managment to run throttle bodies. but you would need all the airbox etc.
