Gradually pulling all the parts I need together. Schrick wanted to take too long so opted for an identical spec cam from Cat instead. Added bonus was that it was considerably cheaper too.

Just need to go pick up the new windscreen and that's pretty much it parts wise.

Only took 7 days to arrive too. All being well car goes for bespoke exhaust system on 13/11 so long as the manifold arrives when it's supposed to? Gone for 50mm pipe and twin silencers 323i stylee. I nearly went for the system that Fritz supply but it would have needed modifying to clear the Alpina diff cover etc. Opted for custom instead.

I was thinking exact same thing. They've got a pretty good rep too.

Does anyone know where I can get a manifold ceramic coated in, or near, London? It seems heat soak has been a past problem that I'm keen to solve. Also, is there any point wrapping an exhaust manifold that has been coated or would it just be a waste?

Surely you will increase the temperature of the Manifold and thus increase the risk of it cracking.

try http://www.zircotec.com/

I think they have dealers all over, but you will need your manifold a bit sooner due to the turn around.

Or you can buy the DIY coatings to bake in the oven.

Or get some nimbus motor sport exhaust wrap

Is it worth doing both Jason?

Also, has anyone ever seen an e21 where all 4 headlights work as dip & main beam? Am I right in thinking that e9 CSL's run that configuration with their headlights?

Only wotth doing 1

thermal coating is better, but costs more and has a longer turn around time.

As the intake runs over the exhasut side it could be work making up a heat deflector using some of the sheet material nimbus sell.

Are you using the e24 airbox and taking and taking a cold feed from the front of the car, due to the heat buildup i would only use a cone filter if you can sheild it from and heat soak.

Yeah, that's the plan. I'm looking at thermal mat to go under the carpet and maybe asbestos ( or modern equivalent ) to go between floor & manifold. I was going to sheild that whole corner of the engine bay to keep the filter separate or use OE air box and a panel filter?

With the head I'm going with Schrick cam ( so long as it's still OK or Cat if not ), e34 inlet valves and some flow work. Be interested to hear thoughts on that? How much would that cost do you reckon?

I think the E21 S had the 4 headlights working all together. We have an E12 M535i with all 4 working as well.
