Snow Tyres
Snow Tyres
This is completely non E21 related but I've searched everywhere for snow tyres for my T5 Transporter and no-one has them. Does anyone deal in tyres or know where I could get a set of 205/65R 16C tyres? I've got rims for them already.
I run my own delivery business and I'm bloody well going to need them by the look of how this winter is starting!
Any pointers much appreciated..

Re: Snow Tyres
Cheers for that but January is the earliest Camskill can get them.
Been quoted £98 + vat per tyre from a Manchester company and I think I'd prefer to do bike deliveries than pay that (although I might have to eat my words)!

Re: Snow Tyres
I've ordered some from mytyres.co.uk they send from Germany via DHL so have stock. having said that they emailed me a week post order to say they didn't have the pirellis I ordered but did have pneumants in stock. Lots of Germans seem to drive on pneumants, and they will be better than the near wear marker front Michelins on my focus at the mo so I went for them.
Try event tyres for a price too, usually quite good.

Re: Snow Tyres
It seems Toyo888r's are not ideal in the snow.
Re: Snow Tyres
Neither are Michelin Pilots with 2mm tread on the front of a focus. Just had a woman stop right in front of me as she was on a patch of tarmac where someone had parked overnight = grip. I slid along behind her, decided to turn into middle of road so as not to rear end her - risk being head on with the oncoming bus she had stopped for, managed to steer to other side of road and bounce off the kerb to stop. No damage but I'll have to go and get some new front tyres today - no idea when the winter tyres I ordered will arrive and it's undriveable like this.

Re: Snow Tyres
Fortunately, I can get away with staying home today. If I have to go out it'll be in an MX5 with an LSD .
Re: Snow Tyres
Cheers for that. mytyres.co.uk also out of stock! My last ditch effort (after making 65 drops this morning and only about 9 very near misses!) is to ask my sister who currently lives in Czech Republic to buy some (a bit cheaper, I'd hope) and get em shipped over.drjim wrote:I've ordered some from mytyres.co.uk they send from Germany via DHL so have stock. having said that they emailed me a week post order to say they didn't have the pirellis I ordered but did have pneumants in stock. Will be lucky to get away without crashing into parked cars, let alone ones in traffic, if it stays like this!
Defo more adrenalin pumping though

Re: Snow Tyres
I was sideways across 2 lanes of the A3 earlier on black ice and waiting for the sound of hitting something! Lucky it straightened up but I don't think I'll be taking it out again till it's thawed. I'm gonna have to fold myself into an MX5 which is like driving whilst sat in the bath!

Re: Snow Tyres
Found that the outer edges of my tyres had 2mm, inners were bald so I was almost on slicks. No wonder it was a bit slippy yesterday! Had tracking sorted and two new front tyres, my little Focus is now returning 62MPG on the commute to/from work.

Re: Snow Tyres
Still not got the tyres, the Czech idea nearly came through but they (the whole of the Czech Republic it seems) have run out of van tyres too. I do like the idea of putting a snow plough spoiler on the front, tho. I did have a quote yesterday for £175 per tyre....Should have gone for the £98 I had earlier in the week.
Anyway 60 deliveries under my belt today and only 2 near misses (parked cars)!

Re: Snow Tyres
Stock steelies, they look like biscuit tins but great for cutting through snow. I've been enjoying supermarket car parks much more in this weather.
