Alpina stripped for parts

Post by Madhatter »

Hey guys, life does strange things so Im determined to get rid of everything but the jps. Need to reclaim space and money as im spending more time overseas, so it comes down to some really hard to find bits that I have no idea what are worth, but need to get rid of. Basically, ive got whats left of an entire C1. Story goes that it was imported privately, no compliance plates, no tags, so no registration in this country and no way to get around it really (well, not legally anyone). Shell was worse for wear, loads of rust so it looks like it was probably a UK car at some stage, pretty much no floor pan or front strut towers left at all. End result is some nice bits salvaged from the car though but I need to work out some prices and see if they will actually sell in aus.

Parts list is as follows

Alpina 2.3L engine
Alpina front spoiler (new)
Alpina rear spoiler
Alpina FD3 suspension
Alpina 3.91 differential (with cover)
Alpina 15x6, 15x7 staggered set of wheels. Have been reconditioned and straightened, so run true without any kerb rash. Just needs painting now (which Ill get done in the new year). Also have toyo R1R 195/55 and 205/50 R15 tyres to go with them. New centrecaps.
Recaros
Alpina steering wheel.
Dash plaque
Alpina deco set
Headers.

Also have a brand new vin plate the previous owner supplied. He claimed he contacted alpina with vehicle details and purchased another one, dont know if its true but it looks like the real deal. About the only thing im missing is a gear knob which was rotten, and optional extras like extended tank, but pretty much all thats needed to build a car. Was originally going to reshell everything and try and sneak it through transport department, but I havent got the time or motivation to do it. Would rather just get the JPS sorted :)

Any ideas where to start with that sort of list?

Thanks guys.

No, sorry dude. Car didnt come with one. If it was a C1, pretty sure they were an option, not standard fitment. The knob, the tank and the rear guard covers (the little extensions) are about the only bits out of the E21 catalog im missing I think.

It has had a repair to one of the mounts which looks to have cracked, but it was tig welded and is perfectly functional. What ill do is get things together over the next couple of days and people can see photos of the items.

Actually managed to get mobile enough to unpack storage and start digging parts out. Extremely slow going as ive still got another 4-5 boxes to go through to find all the E21 parts ive got and no longer need. Im not keen to sell things at bottom dollar, I want to atleast make my money back as I would rather have the money to fall back on (going back in for more surgery in feb) than a collection of hard to find parts. Problem is though, I think our strong australian dollar has priced a lot of things out of the market for international guys. For instance, the wheels cost me $1500 to buy originally, then having them machined and straightened, plus the caps, they owe me like $2000 before they go out to be sand blasted and painted. When the dollar wasnt so good, that $1500 was under 600 pounds, now its more like 1000+. :(

Keep in mind, things are dirty and havent been uncleaned, took photos as they were unpacked over the weekend.

Rear Spoiler. This is actually a BBS spoiler as I couldnt find a full alpina spoiler to buy (in this style). I honestly cant tell the difference other than the BBS logo on the top.

Also have a pair of new strut tops. These were made by noltec when there was such a thing. Good solid mounts, company was purchased by another who now make shitty quality products. :(

Ive got the FD3 suspension here somewhere, but Ive only managed to find the springs so far. I know there are things like replacement parts (guibos, waterpumps, gasket sets, timing belt kits, lead sets, brake rotors, etc) along with stuff like a massive brakes BBK for the front, whiteline rear swaybar, bushes and I think there is even the original cam floating around somewhere.
