Tachometer issues

Post by Vic »

Hey lads,

A few months back, on my 323i, I attempted to change my original tachometer with the one with the green stripe.. and so when removing the original I messed up and didnt check which plugs came out from which socket and now the meters both arent working when connected.

Ive checked the haynes manual and shown there, are the three main wires,

1st) black plug (live)
2nd) 2 x brown plugs (earth)
3rd) 2 x Green and white plugs (one from each long connector which attach one the left and right side of the meter)

However in my car theres a violet and white plug instead of the green and white, and there is voltage coming through it.. So annoying as I know if I had been a little wiser i would have checked and labelled each plug and socket :(

Any help is much appreciated, thanks

Vic

switch the two single blade ones at the top of the binicle.

those are the only plugs that arent moulded to specific sockets. also check your fuses one could have popped.

yeah you can mix them up easily.

you learnt the "label and remove" lesson. the binncle socket that these two plug into have a different letter - i wrote the corresponding letter on the plug.
