I gave up my 323...and bought another one..

Post by Orjan »

I have officially given up my 1980 Henna red restoration project before it even really started :hammer It is now close to 5 years since I bought it, and in that time I have had less than 100 hours of work on it... I slowly started to realize that the chance of it ever beeing finished was pretty slim (about the same as the survival-rates of ice-cubes in hell...)

So last wednesday, when the car that had been my desktop background for a couple of years, suddenly popped up on autoscout24.de - I had a quick chat with my wife - and she actually said "Is it for sale? The car you've wanted for a long time? Then just buy it - you'll regret if you don't" :banana

A few mails back and forth; and the deal was done. The car is still in the Motherland, but it'll be up here in the middle of February I guess.

I'll make a thread in the Owners Gallery when I get it up here; but now enjoy some pics from the net :playcar

That was on my desktop for a while! Congratulations, lovely car. What are you going to do with the old one? Was it corrosion that changed your mind to complete it in the end?

It was part corrosion and part the fact that I don't have any "real" place to work on it; now it is in an old barn a few miles from where I live and it is troublesome to get there - especially in winter time. And the corrosion...the more parts I dis-assembled, the more rust I found - it seemed to be a neverending story :nah
