M20B25 Exhaust options

Post by DrGonzoPOW »

The front pipes on my 320/6 are pretty much shagged so when im putting this new engine in im probably going to have to get it sorted. My question is what are the options for an E21 with a 325 engine in ? Is there anything that can be done with the E30 325 log manifold and E30 exhaust pipes ?
Im struggling to find new front pipes for the 320/6 or 323i so using the standard exhaust might not be an option anymore.

It's easier just to get a bespoke stainless system fitted. Someone like Longlife will be cheapest I guess or someone on here with some fabrication skills could probably knock one up? You can buy silencers & pipe sections online.

I got a new central silencer and backbox last year. I know it would be best to go custom for the extra couple of ponies but im thinking more along the lines of getting the engine and everything else done for the least amount possible

Just as them to make you a downpipe? Then you could still re-use it when the steel sections drop off in a year or two.

How longs a piece of string question, but any idea on price for summet like that ? And would it be best to get one made up for the E30 maniold instead of the E21? Trouble is, there's 2 front pipes on the stock exhaust that connect to 2 ports on the central silencer then into 1 to the backbox. So ill either need 1 pipe making that has 2 outlets to connect to the central section or just get 2 pipes made up like stock :?

Best thing is just to get along to a fabricator and let them take a look. I'm sure there's gotta be somewhere ''up north''. Nas or Jim might be able to suggest somewhere. If it's north of Watford I haven't a clue!

I have 323i front pipes in good order, and the rest of the exhaust system to go with them! PM if interested.
