no need to blank off anything, the take off thing the pipes come from on the block.... take the filter off and unscrew the middle bit the oil filter screws on with and the housing comes off. your 320 engine, take the same bit off your engine and screw it in the 325 block screw the filter on. job jobbed.

Would these be ok to use with the standard 320/6 manifolds or are the holes in them a bit big ?

Don't think so anyway. You're still using the existing E21 fusebox aren't you?

theres three relays (two orange and a white one?) but they should be already attached to the e30 motronic wiring loom youve got?

They glue very nicely to the side of the fusebox.

I made a bracket for my AFM the other day then spent an hour or so cutting out a bit of steel plate with the plasma, making slightly crude mounting holes in it (Plasma again, the drill battery was flat), then welding a short piece of 2.5" exhaust tubing to it so I could bolt it where the airbox went and stick a cone filter on. When I got home I ebayed for a cone and the first one I saw was an e30 325i induction kit with the bit of metal I had spent time making. Induction kit was about £18 and I paid £15 for a cone filter. Fun making it I guess, but more than 3 quidsworth of effort!

You will not want the original gigantic airbox there, so plan stuff like this in advance. Have a look at Murran's car and come and see what we have done with my Baur to help you plan it in advance.

ah found you a pic.

i too glue gunned them to the e21 fuse box! white ones the dme relay, one yellow ones is the fuel pump relay. cant remember what the other one does.

air box wise youd need to make up a bracket to support the afm if your getting a k+n cone filter or similar or if your using the e30 airbox you need to make brackets for that insted.

is yours running yet jim?

You love that plasme Jim, i remember when you did my arches with that NHS bin you nicked! 1mm thick metal with a plasma! Haha, what a noise that thing makes though. Its a tre cool toy for sure
I wouldnt mind doing as much research into it as poss so maybe a ride through to your unit one weekend would be a big help Jim, the same with Murran, but guess i can have a nosey around the tramp when i drop some monies off. Pretty sure i got no relays like that anyhows. What am i looking for if im getting them from a breaker ? Just go by the colours ?

I need to connect the spark plugs - HT leads wouldn't go on the ones I have, suspect I may need to remove the little extra screw in bit off the end of the plug to get them to stick, also need to work out what the sequence on the dizzy is. Then fuel pipes, nuts on underside of manifold, connect exhaust gear linkage and prop, spanner check underneath and it should work. Bodywork is almost ready for painting but I want to get the grubby bits sorted before putting nice new paint on. MOT and on the road in the spring all being well!

Gonzo you're welcome to come and have a nosey around, I'm hopefully down at the unit tomorrow afternoon, will try to arrange a more formal meet - maybe once the car is painted and we can do a public trim refitting and ceremonial MOT group photo!
