Weatherstrip- new or old?

Post by kABLiuks »

Big Q, about windshield installment...

My old weatherstrips has a some rust where it used to touch with body. So I don't understand does this weatherstrip has metal in it which rusted, or it was body metal rust. So does this weatherstrip has metal inside that can rust or not? Buy new one or use old?

And when installing windows, what kind of sealant are you using between weatherstrip/window and weatherstrip/metal?

Thank you!

The weather strip is all rubber. The rust is from the body. When I removed my windshield to treat some rust, I reused the weather strip after giving it a good cleaning. When installing the windshield, you'll want to use a urethane window sealer.
