Re: e36 m3 clutch?
lol thanks jason - thought you would know - damn there is my cheap upgrade option gone,
i think my brand new sachs 323i clutch is too weak to handle the m50 - you got any performance clutch suggestions?

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
Really? I thought they handled more than we're throwing at them?
Re: e36 m3 clutch?
i dunno man - i did give it a wipe with some degreaser but tbh i want something with a little more bite - the clutch biting point is too far up as well, i want it lower - any ideas?

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
I guess you could get a friction plate made up with sintered friction material or something? You could play around with cylinder bores / sizes?
I'm thinking Jason's your man really. I don't have much of a clue about anything!

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
CG motorsports on ebay specialise in uprated clutches, a mate got one for his Suzuki Swift turbo engined Avenger though not fitted yet. I might get an uprated M10 clutch to go behind an M30 one of these days, those ones are £220. I'll also get one if my M50 toasts my 323i one, which I will find out very quickly...

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
Check eBay.com fo spec clutches work out cheaper than buy an uprated clutch in the Uk
Also drop an email to superclutch and helix motorsport to se what they can do (google them)

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
paddle clutch???
whyd you get a 323i one? and not 325i e30 one? the pressure plate is stronger on an e30 325i, more clamping force.

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
cos when i took the engine out of the 323i i found it had a brand spanking new clutch on there lol. it holds up but tbh i want a more aggressive engagement - if you are too quick with the 323i clutch it slips a bit - not much but i know its happening.. if you change gear slowly then it holds its grip.
e34 m5 clutches work? or is that just for m30 engines Mark?

using an exedy e30 325i clutch here, no issues so far, been just over a year of daily driving now and it gets driven pretty hard.

Re: e36 m3 clutch?
take whole cluch kit including flywheel from any m30 engine. Also you can use it from M5, but with 3.6L engine. 3.8L one I guess already got dualmass flywheel/clutch system.
And don't forget to change starter too. As m20 and m30 has different teeth shape on flywheel.
Starter from m10 has the same teeth shape as m30.
