Hmmmm maybe you guys remember, some time ago I posted a picture of the moon here. Thread has been parsed automatically, but since I've been interested in mooning all my life
here's a retry I just took... not completely satisfied as I think it can be sharper but this was the best my 300mm could do atm.

Used a tripod, f=6.3, 1/250th, ISO 200. Sounds real fast but you have to cope with quite some light otherwise you will just have a bright white ball and lose all the detail.

Just noticed this thread, thats looking very good!
I actually tried the same thing a few month ago, with similar results.
My settings:
Focus on infinity at 200mm, F16
1/8sec, iso 200
@Jeroen, I think you could get it even sharper if you choose a smaller aperture. From 9.6 and up. The longer shutter shouldn't be a problem with a good tripod and selftimer/remote.
