Information on E21 315

Post by sparkle »

Hello.
I have recently purchased an E21 315, and wanting to get more information/history of the 315.
Were they only released in Germany? Reason I ask this, is mine is left hand drive, and our cars here in New Zealand, are right hand drive.
It also has this sticker on the right hand side of the bootlid, instead of a "315" badge. Any idea on when it may have been put on? Or what it means? I have the understanding that it's a region in Germany.
Any other information would be appreciated.
Cheers
Sparkle

Sparkle,

Did u try bmwe21.net? http://www.bmwe21.net/?page_id=282

Nice to see the data I put in there are not right  the 315 was introduced as the budget bimmer in 1981 and produced until late 1983 I believe. Basically they took out some parts of the old 1.6 316 to make this 1.6 315 since they uprated the 316 to 1.8 (still with me? )

AFAIK the 315 was only available to Europe. Allgau is one of the most southern regions in Germany so this sticker has nothing to do with the car in question.

Hope this has given you some direction!
Regards/groeten, Jeroen
