worn center prop bearing?

Post by nas80 »

Weird noise on the motorway when changing speed. Coming from under the hand brake.

Didn't sound metallic best as I can describe its like the noise you hear on that game show where the contestants spin that big wheel n there's an arrow at the top clicking like mad.

It's not constant, id hear it tap once or twice, then about 2 mins after it would go nuts n tap real fast. I stopped and looked under everything seemed on the right place.

I drove it home n then onto some ramps and crawled under n gave the exhaust n prop a wiggle no noise, doesn't do it when u throw the car at bends.

Is this the symptom of a knackered center prop bearing?

Oh mate,

I was actually going to ask you the next time I saw you. I get a weird vibrating sensation during hard acceleration, I thought that was the sign of a worn propshaft bearing and not yours. It's driving me nuts and more worringly think somethings going to fall off! Well let me know what you isolate it to in the end.

Check your gearbox mounting aswell as centre bearing.

Nothing to do with having an e30 gearbox? The original guy who put it in said it might be twisting under acceleration!
