E28 console
Can the E28 central console fit exactly on the E21, or are there any mods needed?

Re: E28 console
some mods are needed, you have to cut some material from the gearbox stick console.petroscf wrote:Can the E28 central console fit exactly on the E21, or are there any mods needed?
I welded some small bolts to the handbrake lever piece, so you can screw the e28 in place using the excisting brackets.

I took the corner at high speed, came in the ditch, drove straight through a garden, flipped over 4 times and then I lost control of my steering-wheel!

hmm...I would be interested to see some pictures in order to understand what the result is, especially on points where the mods are done

I don't know if you are a technical guy, but just buy the piece and try fitting it youreself, not hard at all...

Re: E28 console
well, I also love the look of the "half" console of the E21 with the carpet upholstered part of the middle tunnel...
However, I have in mind some electrical facilities for the future, such as electric windows or heated seats (Ok, things I may NEVER do in the end...) and I was thinking where to fit the switches...(In order not to loose the useful space in the old, non ac console under the ashtray...)

Re: E28 console
you can fit switches either side of the stereo - plenty room there, or perhaps either side of the gearstick?
