A how much is it worth thread?

Post by Millar »

Trying to figure out how much money I have tied up in cars at the moment, so could do with a quick valuation of my E21 please lads. 1992 320/6 5 speed box, completely standard except from a twin 3 inch exhaust and de-bumpered, on SORN. New arches by previous owner, and I have welded on new sills and floor pans, so its completely solid apart from a hole in the boot. Engine has been stripped down ready to take out, and be replaced by marks old e30 325 lump out of his E21. Spares: new clutch, short shifter, 323 front calipers, clutch slave cylinder, braided brake lines.

So how much is it worth in its current form?

hmm not really enough to make it worth selling then, though i could easily re-plumb it up and make it a runner again, that 800 including the spare engine etc? was just thinking about selling up as it seems more hassle than its worth as a drift tool, with the shafts breaking all the time, and its almost too god to ruin.

If you wait a while, I wouldn't mind it (dont need your spare engine) I've always wanted a red one.

I want to learn how to weld and restore / paint once I get my house sorted and I build a garage.

didnt think so to be honest, probably more worth my time pulling my finger out and slotting the 2.5i in, then deciding whether to sell it, but as i say, as much as i love it, its going to be an expensive drift car

already got an e34, but just fancied a small car as a project, didnt count on parts being quite so hard to come by and expensive though.

why is it going to be expencive? mines not expencive! theres enough grunt with the e30 lump in to drift 3rd easy. can do 2nd gear burnouts etc. until your skills out grow the power youve got..... theres no need for more!
aslong as you only lower the rear to the point the driveshafts are at right angles with the center line of the cv joints they dont tend to break. but id say 170-180 bhp (with drift abuse) is their limit. even so i always take tools and a spare shaft and circlip pliars to drift days!

took me just over half an hour to swap one on the floor bout 18+ months ago.

i like to crash lol. and the likes of coilies are uber expensive, well for me anyways, body panels are hard to come by cheap etc. but i'll fit it and see how i like it. need someone to wire it up for me though, well the fuel pump anyways.

you can only crash if theres things to crash into..... one of the reasons im not doing drift days at buxton raceway.
dont really need coilovers. the spax kit is more than up to it.

if you end up breaking it, whats the short shift youve got?

I think I've given up on my E21 for drifting for the time being, gone back to E30s!!
