mine is lowerd 60mm all round with the shocks set to a fairly hard setting and have a fhora rear spoiler that felt fine and planted up to around 140+mph.. an alpina front spoiler would improve that futher provided that you cut the the original front valance for the brake cooling ducts.. most tend to just fit as is and there for the cooling flow is blocked by the original front valance chin spoiler..

Hi mark .. doesnt mick at pristine do an all in one alpina valance with a moulded fiber glass bumper..? even gives a bit more clearence for an oil cooler/intercooler to be fitted behind it... 8)

Indicated 130mph on the clock on my first E21, early 90's; no front spoiler, FOHA-style rear lip. Wasn't aware of car vibrating, but then the front was nervous enough to focus my concentration.
It just goes to show how far cars have come; an E90 320d will get up to 140mph no effort with more to come, alledgedly :bag. The speedos are marked to 160mph on those for a reason...

He does a copy of the motorsport spoiler but not sure I like the way they look. (that's all of them not just Micks)

From my experience a front splitter (i use a BBS with no front Bumper) makes the car much more 'planted' as it reduces the lift a saloon car naturally generates. This effect can be improved further by getting the car as close to the ground as possible to reduce the amount of air going underneath. As for stability, a rear spoiler has a massive effect, this is because the sharp trailing edge of the spoiler gives the car a constant aerodynamic separation point. In addition, the rear spoiler also acts to reduce lift at the rear axle. I use an e28 rear spoiler, they're cheap, readily available and i think the colour coded panel on the upper surface looks loads better than a massive chunk of black rubber that you get with some of the other e21 rear spoilers.

i went 112,5 with mine in 4th, stock suspension except the rear, no spoilers. Yeah i feel your opening post about no reason and literally 'flying' over the road. Kinda scary car for high speed haha.
