Suspension (where to buy)

Post by sleepy »

Hi Guys,

Going to a classic car rally with my car at the end of this month hopefully, i havent't started doing anything to the car i was planning yet to get it ready.

I have been going back and forward between Gaz coilovers and Spax PSX -60m kit, Gaz looks to be coming in at £600 and the cheapest i have saw the Spax so far is £450....has anyone been able to get the spax kit cheaper than this?... i'm thinking i may aswell go for the Gaz kit for the sake of £150??? Comments welcome

Has anyone got some pics of how the spax -60m kit or the Gaz kit sits on the car?

Call RPM and get Gaz. I had the Spax kit and it was OK but I prefer GAZ. That's just my preference though and not a reflection on Spax.

How much difference is there between the two? Worried that the gaz might be too stiff as just wanting the suspension for the ride height mainly

Spax -60mm cost me 370 from POTN a couple of years back. Awesome kit. If you've got money to spare then coil-overs are always the best bet, but i personally think their overkill for normal road use

The springs that come with the Gaz are ideal for road use. Probably similar rates to Spax.

im more than happy with how mine handles on the spax psx with the whiteline front add on.

i do think my doubled up rear anti roll bar is a little ott. its great in the dry, but too tail happy in the wet..... good for cheeky skids tho!

might try to build some adjustability into it......

Looks good DrGonzoPOW, thanks for the comparrison shot.....think i saw a write up of when you fitted your suspension.

Think i'm going to get the Spax, as much as i would like the Gaz i cant justify the extra cash when i will only be using normal road use.

Had a look on POTN but dont think they stock them anymore, i have been able to find them at £394 so far, will keep hunting

Ok, Here's mine with GAZ Coilovers on, obviously you can set the ride height to whatever you want pretty much.

Mine does scrap a bit, and i think i'll be bringing the rear up a little.

I have 15 x 7.5 alloys.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help guys, I have now ordered the sax psx kit for £394....as the car will be used on the road only i thoughtthese would be the better option, also means i can spend the other £200 on something else for the car..

I'm now hunting for alloys, think i'm going to go woth the Lenso BSX...thinking 16'sand looking for a nice dish, anyone know what kind of width offset i will be able to get away with?

I think it's normally said that the offset should be around et12 but as your going for 16's you should be able to pick and choose a little more as a 16 inch rim will clear the track rod.

mine are corrected with spacers and i think currently the rear is equiv to et10 and the front et15 and that's with a 7.5" rims width, and i run 195 45 tyres.

hope that helps and even more so i hope it's the right information.....
