Hey mate and welcome to the site :) All you need to know about adding photos is in the e21 forums general tab. You will see the post (adding photos) I just finished replacing my top so stick a pic up and I might have a solution for ya.

Also wouldn't mind your opinion on my wheels. My mate keeps ribbing me that they're too small and I should get a set of larger ones such as alpina's, what do you think?

Hi Schroeder,

Nice car, I like the colour. With respect to your roof have you looked into getting a SMART repair done? They might say it's too big and I'd still get three quotes and ask for recommendations as the quality can vary, but should be a lot cheaper than a partial or full retrim.

Also I prefer slightly larger wheels too, but the ones on your car don't look too bad by any means

Hi Arshad76

Thanks very much for your comments, appreciated!

Was really hoping to make the sharknose meeting next weekend, but still a little way off of getting it back on the road. I'll keep a lookout for details of forthcoming meets. Just in the process of sorting out a replacement fuel pump and sender unit which should get her started.

Thanks again!

I've got the original roof off my car which has a tear in the passenger side side piece, if you want to try unpicking the seams and sewing the piece in you can have it (I don't think I've binned it. Alternatively I have some offcuts of fabric from the targa panel/front section recover I have just done, you could try and stick some in from the inside to repair it.

Let me know, can post some offcuts easily, big roof with frame is more difficult?

Post some more pics/details of your car up. Where are you located?

Hi Jim

Thanks for the fabric, appreciated.

On closer inspection, there are a number of large cracks on the rear part of the roof. I think i need to be getting my head around a re-cover which would probably apply also to the hard top. How much did you pay for yours?

I got a good used hood from someone on here for £100 - it's actually perfect. I got a bit more fabric than needed to cover the targa and front bit - cost £135.

I have found my old hood, I'll have a look at it tomorrow if I have time - as I recall it had a small repairable tear in the side but the rest was fine - might be useful to you.
