This weekend I decided to rebuild the rear axle after doing a driveshaft at the PPC shoot and then selling the diff. Welded up a 323i diff and stuck on some 'fresh' shafts, then did some donuts oh yeah!!

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
pm me your address rob, i have these rack bushes still sat here!
are your drive shafts sat straight rob? if not get them sat 90 degrees or slightly higher so when the back of the car "sits down" as you set off they are straight.....

It wasn't actually me that did it, but MIB now has a 24v 2.8 sat in the engine bay. Oh happy days!

I'm a bit slow getting here but I have been busy. Running her up to opperating temp and doing the final settings on the carb after the rebuild. Set the all the butterfly settings yesterday, today I set the cold start aux air setting for the carb. Now it warms up at 1500 and idles at 950.
Isn't it funny how a few turns of a screw can make you so happy! lol (I'll get her to 850 after the MOT when i can balance the two halves. I'm sure that 3-4 are burning rich and 1-3 are lean)
Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
I was hoping to get a full day at the workshop but family conspired against me. I was down there for a couple of hours, got the chrome trim back on the rain gutter, fitted the passenger side B-pillar trim, scratched the drivers side one as I was trying to get it on, so it's in the garage at home having been nitromors'ed and repainted. Managed to get a little dent in the body just under the B-pillar which I'll hopefully be able to pop out, if not Shaun will fix it when he does the touching up repairs to the front wings (scratched while fitting bumper single handed). I also got the bonnet hinges back together, but need to realign the bonnet on the hinges as it's ot quite straight. Lastly I connected up the idle control valve.
Mobile phone pics, will take proper camera down when it's ready to drive.

Definitely be at the workshop Thurs/Fri so hopefully be ready for MOT by the weekend.

Yep, quite pleased with my DIY results. It's a bit dusty, but will clean it off properly once the rest of the car is finished. I'm definitely on the home straight with this restoration now.

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
Looking nice Jim. Reminds me of my old Baur.
Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
Today I popped down to the workshop accompanied by my nearly 2 year old Son. I managed to fit the drivers side B-pillar trim, and fortuitously while I was there Lee the windscreen man was there, so I'll be meeting him at the unit in the morning to get my rear windows and windscreen fitted.
Should have 4 hours tomorrow, then almost full days Thurs/Fri. MOT and road is beckoning!!!

Re: What did you do to your E21 today?
you had it running yet?
only problems i had with daves was mixing up the crank sensor plug with the cylinder recognition sensor plug. so if theres no live to the fuel pump when cranking yours, try swaping the two plugs then try again.
also once it was running there was a catching noise from the front pulley.... id over lapped the lower and upper ally timing belt covers wrong on the stud the alternator bracket goes on. the upper one goes on top of/over the lower one..... school boy error there, but i might have done the same on yours....
