I'll see how it sounds and take it from there. Will be amazed if it just works!

Windscreen and side windows in, fitted drivers door lock and door card etc. All side trims fitted, reattached roof with the big rubber bit in place, still seems to be a bit out of line with one latch, maybe the frame is a bit warped, will look at it tomorrow. rear "door" cards fitted, ready to install rear seats tomorrow. Located glovebox/centre console ready for fitting. Pile of bits now much smaller than before! Brought the door mirrors home with me as they were very faded, have just given them a rub down and 3 coats of satin black.

Tomorrow I'll bang the seats in, transplant the original glass from passenger door (dented) into the new door, fit the passenger door card, glove box, console, maybe the stereo I have lying around. Then I'm going to try turning the key!

Oh and for everyone's info - the clear windscreen supplied by BMW is actually brown.

It's amazing how much difference putting the windows back in makes - it now looks like a car and I'm desperate to drive it. Yesterday it was a project that felt a long way off being done!

well, today I thought I would sort out why the dimmer switch for the instrument cluster wasn't working. Hmmm more wirring gremlins from previous owner. sorted it by putting the wires back where they belong. god knows why they moved them in the first place! nice looking baur there, how do you get the lower trim back in for the side back windows?

The windows were fitted by a professional, took him about 20 minutes to do the rears. He fitted all the chrome trim in the rubber before fitting it in the car rather than sticking the rubber in and then fitting the trim.

Well yesterday really picked the car from Micks at Pristine bodyworks, just had a brand new bespoke stainless exhaust &manifold looks & sounds the nuts even if I do say so myself also had the rear brakes completely overhauled , plus had all the rear beam, arms , arb, diff powder coated & poly bushed I also used the KMAC toe camber kit . Finished just in time the SHARKNOSE 2011, will post some pics of the work I've had done when I get a chance.......

Thanks for that. Well I guess I'll have to run mine without for now as I'll soon be taking all the glass out to re-upholster the interior.

Dismantled drivers door card to sort out the wonky window winder - window went up at the back first. Turned out to be a loose bolt, don't remember loosening it. While the door card was off I decided to have another go at the alignment/panel gaps, whilst messing around with that I scratched the Baur B-pillar cover which I then squirted paint at and got a run rather than a flat surface. Got it all back together only to find that the door closes fine when the window is wound down, but with the window up the lock mechanism doesn't engage and it just bounces back open. Will dismantle it AGAIN on my next visit.

Also rebuilt and fitted centre console, rear seats, drivers seat and sorted the straps on the hood out. Started on the glovebox but had to go and pick Kids up from Nursery.

Slowly edging towards the finish line. Am working over the weekend so no guaranteed E21 action till Monday (on leave next week).

Swapped in some stiffer front springs, reset the ride height and corner weighted the car.
Reset the geometry as well (lots of camber  ).

All ready for racing at Mallory Next week.

I fixed the sun roof handle that was hanging down.....

I also fixed the crazy heat shield rattle on the exhaust system.

Next: Exhaust leak at the gasket between the manifold and pipe that leads to the converter.
Front brakes rotors are warped. Getting the steering wheel wobble when braking.
The temp gauge reads near the red when idling at a long red lite or in a line at the drive thru.... It's hot in Texas.
When I pickup speed and get air moving past the very small radiator the car cools down quickly.

I just purchased this car from the orginal owner. It runs great and is a blast to drive.
