If they are different they are not E21 Recaro's. I dont know about cobblers but Marks are Ford Recaro's which are different to the ones fitted to the E21.e21-Mark wrote:and mine.
It's the runners that are car specific.
Re: My new Scheel seats
So how come these sheels are rare? Did only people with large prosteriors order them or did they just make 10 sets or something?
My recaros are fine n comfy. i have a bit of a belly since i got married but i still have a narrow back side so no problems with long journeys for me!!

Re: My new Scheel seats
I also believe I have a narrow backside but still the seats feel to tight on long journeys whereas E30 sports seats are just perfect. But the Scheel seats are slightly wider, just a design choice as the seats weren't designed for the E21, they were just used in them. And where the Recaro seat is the factory sports seat, the Scheel units were only used by Alpina and Hartge so in their cloth they are pretty rare. Add just a few that were sold like aftermarket and these seats are rare indeed. Even though I like the looks of the Recaro's better, these ones are better for my posterior

Re: My new Scheel seats
They only came as an option on Alpina's from the era and given how rare the actual cars are/were, naturally the seats which were only an option are going to be more rare.
BTW, too much info about your backside. lol

You learn something everyday.
I prefer the racaro though, they suit the sporty car more then the sheel arm chair.
have you got any pics of them in an e21? tried a Google but no fruit.

Re: My new Scheel seats
Scheel were available to loads of manufacturers. Same as Recaro. They were available for BMW E9's, 2002's, NK's, Ford Capris, Mustangs, Porsche 356's, 912's etc etc. Individual manufacturers could use their own seats cloth to individualise them but the basic seat would be the same. In fact they're more 60's & 70's judging by the list of cars they came in. No denying their rarity though. iirc even e30 sport seats are based on a Recaro seat and produced under licence.

Re: My new Scheel seats
It's the 'comfort' seats that I find the worst of all when it comes to comfort. I just find them too soft & bouncy but I have a back injury so that might be the reason?
Re: My new Scheel seats
I think there is a reason mate. they aren't exactly what you would call aesthetically pleasing.Mobster wrote:They only came as an option on Alpina's from the era and given how rare the actual cars are/were, naturally the seats which were only an option are going to be more rare.

Re: My new Scheel seats
Tbh I think they look gash.. They might be more comfortable/rare, but I don't like the look personally.. Too chunky.
Re: My new Scheel seats
To be honest I like the later Recaro Alpina seats more than my Sheels. But they were already in the car and it's a comfortable seat. No doubt that the sheels were fitted in the same model in other cars, but no way they were supplied in the same cloth otherwhere than from Alpina. As it's a rare seat I'll just take good care of them and keep them in this car.
