brake fluid change and a call to thetomc

hi chaps, is a brake fluid change every 12 months or every 24 months? the tech article here says every 12, but i'm so sure brake fluid these days is every 24 months. i last had it changed just over a year ago when i put 323i brakes up front with the help of TomC.....which brings me on to my next question....

Tom - do you remember what fluid you used? was it dot 5.1? i know it's a long shot that you'd remember from such a long time ago but worth it anyway!

Was probably DOT 4 mate but can't be sure.
As for frequency of fluid change, i reckon every two years is ok for general road use.
