Vinyl wrapping

Post by DrGonzoPOW »

My sunroof hasnt had a proper test back in the rain since i repaired it but i was thinking recently about vinyl wrapping the roof and covering the sunroof alltogether if it throws up anymore problems. Has anyone else had any experience with vinyl wrapping and is it a good idea ??

A couple of my mates have had it done, but on their entire cars. I could ask how much it costs, but it's not a huge amount. One mate has a matt black wrap. Was done well apart from some minor creasing to the rear wing, so had it done again.

You could go wild with a change in colour if you liked.

Anyway to summarise three main benefits

- Allows a colour change and cheaper than a full respray

- Protects against minor scratches, stone chips etc.

- totally reversable

I like the idea of it. Was just thinking about getting the roof and pillars done but wouldnt know what colour to go for. The main reason for it doing would be to blank off the sunroof without having to weld anything. Cant really find anywhere close to me that does it

Ah right, not sure how good that would look, I'd do the whole car. There's loads of places in Manchester, should be in Yorkshire too, but again depends on the quality of the job I guess.

I thought vinyl wrapping was 1 to 1.5k

Seal the sunroof up with polyurathane windscreen bonding stuff, take the ruber seal out, masking tape around the inside and out side edge of the sunroof, fill and smooth.

Basicly bond the sunroof panel in and the black sealent looks like the oem seal.
