New E21 Owner - from Sligo, Ireland

Post by Enda »

Hey, I just bought an E21:

It's landing here in Sligo, Ireland either tomorrow or Monday, can't wait! It's a standard 320, 5 Speed Manual with PAS. I'd say I'll have to get some springs, shocks and bushes first off.. Second-hand or reconditioned will have to do, as I'm skint after landing it in from the UK! Clear or smoked front indicators would look nice on there too. It's a 1979 reg, which is NCT (MOT) exempt and only attracts a very low motor tax rate of €48 a year (Compared to my old E34 TDS Touring - €935 a year!). Mileage is 154K miles, about 5K a year!

Down the line, I'll probably fit a 2.5i or 2.7i engine :thumbsup

Cheers,

Enda.

Some alloys with polished lip, lowered a couple of inches & clear lenses will look really nice.

Do you think Smoked lenses would be too dark? What about the back? I definitely need to lower her, and I'll probably change alloys at some stage too. What would be good but still classic, 16" BBSs?

Personally I think 16's are too big and 15's look better. Any period rim with diamond cut lip would contrast with the black body so no need to spend big bucks. I think smoked lens look a bit naff too. Its all personal choice though tbh.

By the way, what is the correct Fitment for an E21? I got this info from a BBS RS:

120 x BLACK CHROMED split rim bolts
Size: M7 x 24 mm
Diameter: 14 mm
Rim Width: 8.5J
Number of Studs: 4
Offset: 2
Stud Diameter: 100
Rim Diameter: 15
Rim Structure: Two Piece
Metal Type: Aluminium

Here's the link, I could possibly stretch the budget to something like them : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/120-BLACK-CHR ... 1805wt_862

Last one, I think these Lensos would look great, they're reasonably priced too:

Maybe plain silver might work better, as there's so much black already.. I could go either way and be happy, I think.. Any comments?

I know I'd be very happy with these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BBS-RS-043-AL ... 3a679f1b13
