Rot, Rust, new member seeking advice!

Post by cas1982 »

Hi, Im new here, i have just aquired a y plate e21, needs attention, firstly the rear bodywork section beneath the side bumper sections is about ready to be pulled off by hand, one side is worse but both need doing, its masked by rear quarter skirting, not sure if thats the correct term!? The car has side skirts fitted too, which i am not keen on, so will be for sale at some point, along with the rear pair. Im sure the skirts also hide rot, not got round to removal yet, the car was mot'd in april and seems to of had the minimum welding done for a pass. a few holes in the boot panel too, plus the boot leaks, the rest bodywork wise seems ok. I am happy to buy the panels but need the correct term for the rear quarters, again im probably looking at the wrong part :hammer walloth nesch seem to be 353 euro each?? If anyone is willing to take a look and advise im in Mansfield Ng19 i will give you a few quid petrol money if you local, dont drive from Cornwall or Outer Hebredies though!! thanks
Ps this needs to be financial viable, im not after a show winner, just a clean nice looking car, dont want it to end up spares or repair, but if its a bridge too far with the work involved maybe im better off with something cleaner? I had an orange 316 in '93 reg RUL 71Y maybe i should of kept that! :thnx

Thanks for taking the time to upload pictures, yes they are the panels i require, great before and after shots you have taken, access to welding equipt clearly coming in handy! I intend on getting the bodywork straight before addressing the engine brakes etc, i will post some pictures when i have removed the side skirts, thanks again!!
