this didn't go as well as planned today.

new engine was crap id say it was even worse then the one it was supposed to replace. everything seemed to take longer then it should have and i drove a fork lift straight into a roller shutter which i had to bend back by smashing it with a giant mallet.

still nice to catch up and lend a hand.

And my Baur broke down on the way - sat at traffic lights, went to get first, heard a snick as the circlip popped off and had neutral only! Had to wait for a tow down to the workshop. Being pulled in on a short strap by an expensive 4x4 was not much fun with my wonky brakes that sometimes don't work! I also got grief from my Wife as we have building/kitchen fitting starting next week and I had to come home mid afternoon to move furniture etc.

As Nas said the engine didn't quite go to plan, plus I grabbed the fuel pump out of the Baur before we realised the "new" engine was a no go in order to get Reck back on the road, neither Nas or I could get the bastard back in again after we abandoned Recks engine transplant. So I now need to do my brakes, springs, gear linkage and refit the bloody fuel pump!

I am now stripping wallpaper with a beer in my hand, could be worse!

Oh really sorry to hear about the engine. Was nice catching up with everyone. Definitely do a longer meet, especially when I get the rest of my interior in!

Sorry to hear that guys. I very nearly drove up myself but the weather forecast stopped me. They were wrong anyway and it was sunny all day.

If you need another M10 I have one spare from my E30 316, 1.8. It has the double choke weber carb on it that is very sought after, and the carb looks as new. The M10 is a decent lump but one day it just wouldn't start, the worst case is the timing chain jumped a tooth (obviously no harm done) and it needs to be retimed or it could be something even simpler. I didn't bother to find out as it came out for an M30 3.5 the next day. If you buy the carb, you can have the engine for free! £115. As the engine isn't running though I can see why this might not be the best thing for you...

i really would keep with the idea of injection rather than carb.

ive messaged him about it asking if he has service history and if he can bob the camcover off to check the carbon build up and inspect the cam.
