questions

Post by datomas »

hy everybody,i'm Thomas, from Romania.I'm about to bring home my new to me E21,and i wanted to ask you guys a couple of things.
First of all,the owner of the car told me the car is from 1979,but has the single chrome door mirror...i thought that was a feature specific for the early models.
How can i identify the right year when the car was made. It's 320 with 1.8 engine, sunroof, doesn't have electronic ignition, the domelight it's triangle, and has a chrome frame.
Secondly,i have a donor car from 1978,with nice interior, but i noticed that something is different with the front seats,or the seat brackets. What's the deal with that?

Thanks,
Thomas

on this link if you put your vin number in the serial number box at the top of the page and click search then on the next page at the bottom the details of your car will be shown..also a 1978 car would have early style seat mounts with the adjuster between the seat and the door but from about 1979/80 the seat runners and floor pan mounts were different with the adjuster at the front of the seat .the seat belt catches were also moved from the transmission tunnel to on the sides of the seats at the same time.. edd
