They are the Borbet caps. Mind you, I've just ordered a set of flat ones from Germany.

Re: Mark's M52/2.8
While I was at the workshop today I binned the Mickey Mouse Motorsport cone filter in preference for a decent foam filter from Pipercross. I can't believe the difference it's made! The MMM one must have been really restricting air flow because the engine is now much more responsive and there's a fair bit more induction noise.

Re: Mark's M52/2.8
Took MIBs ECU out today and mailed it Northwards for a remap. Also fitted flush centre caps on the Borbets which landed from ze farterland and look way nicer imo.

Re: Mark's M52/2.8
Just got times confirmed for last Saturday and my best came out at a 53.2 which I'm actually pretty chuffed with.Duracel79 wrote:Something a bit better for you as well. when I looked though the race times for other cars at lydden. I think the track is now slower since they resurfaced it a year or two ago, maybe 0.5-1second, so you are on the money with a 52.4. You just gotta put the sectors together.
For the sprint run,
I think they start you from the pit lane exit, start the clock as you cross the start line and you do one and 3/4 flying laps to a finish on the exit of the Devils Elbow. Around 80 - 100 seconds?
I'm playing rugby in the afternoon up in Tring so doubt I'll be able to make it. I'll see if my dad wants to pop along and say hello in the D-Type.
Ben

Re: Mark's M52/2.8
I'm just waiting on my ECU coming back from being mapped and the rev limit raised to just over 7k. The 2.5 inlet is going on this week to, along with the 2.5 fuel rail. I think that should be about it for MIB although I am thinking about a rear cage at some point.

I'm doing the Retro Car / Retro Ford track day at Brands Hatch on November 10th so I spent an hour playing with the clubman data logger I bought a few months ago. I remember when bits of tech' like this cost a bloody fortune but this was about £80 and couldn't be simpler to install and use. As well as giving accurate lap times, you can compare laps, split into sectors, over lay laps etc etc. It just helps to see what lines were quickest and how / where I can be quicker. It's also easy to see what my potential quickest lap would be by adding the quickest sector times together.

Thanks for that Ben. It felt faster though honestly!
Data logger is a Q-starz bt-q1000XT Jim. I got it off eBay I think? Well worth the money for a rainy afternoon pretending I'm a racing driver.

Re: Mark's M52/2.8
Finally managed to get my hands on a copy of a film called ''The Quest'' today. It's a film that follows the BMW County Championship from 1980 and shows footage from each round. It also shows snippets of the marquee where the cars were maintained and from TWR's Motorsports Centre near Oxford. I'll post a taster below but I need to check on copyright and if it would still remain after 31 years? It's a bit corny but the actual race footage is great. I don't know where else you could see a field of 323's getting driven so hard?! Probably nowhere!
