Today I replaced the subrame bushes and cured the rear steering issue. They had been fitted without the plate things on, and the passenger side bush was flopping about loose as the nut hadn't been tightened on either. LArgely sorted except I need some M8 bolts that are long enough to attach the plate things on the outside of the sill. Then I put the kids seats in the back and went for a drive around. 2.5 M20 is more than powerful enough for the road in this car, makes a great noise too!

It did! I know it was the right thing to do; Winter is coming, the BMW is getting used less and less, tax and insurance are due in January, tow other cars to look after, second child arriving in March... the list was fairly compelling!!

It was sad seeing it being driven away by somebody else yesterday and I'm still not used to the empty space on the drive though... maybe I'll have to look out for another one once we settle in Canada in a couple of years!

Sounds like you have quite some plans already. Yes, make sure to include buying an E21 in those plans!

I offloaded the old fridge to someone off freecycle, cleared the rest of the stuff out of the garage took the Baur for a drive to blow the cobwebs off and parked it in there...

The white thing on the floor is a dehumidifier, the car has been out in the rain for a month or so and I want to get the insides dried out pronto!

I need to find another 2.5 M20 to drive for comparison purposes, this thing is very fast, got the back end twitching on a motorway slip road :D, I may also need a 6 pot in the slug.

It needs something - lurched into outside lane of the slip road when it caught me out! There's a few clonks from the suspension over bumps so I need to re-spanner everything soon. LSD might be handy, but so might selling it and doing another :D

6 pot - am pondering a crazy supercharged M50 2.5 but would depend what I can find/cheap - was watching a 328i that went for 300ish quid. That'dve been a good start, but I missed the end of the auction. I have a couple of months until track day season starts again, and the slug is pretty fast even with 4 pots.

Last I heard from Reck he was convinced his new engine was broken, making knocking noises. Iit could be the timing off plus downpipe only having one bolt holding it onto the manifold etc, but he's gone all negative on the car and looking at rust patches. Add up the cost of fixing the bodywork and you are way past the price of the car in Scotland with the webers on it. Not sure what has happened since.

Agreed sale of track car today.

Have a couple of e30 shaped irons in fire. One of which has bundles of power and could be sprinted while I build up my early shell.

TWR is coming along and found more suitable ratio for MIB's e12 diff conversion.

Will be sad to see track car go but is being bought by the guy who sold me MIB 3 years ago!

Quite a few E21's moving around across the pond atm! Hope they all found good owners and that these new owners find this place of course 8)

Sometimes you just need to sacrifice something for something better and it sounds like most of you are doing this. Except for an individual that will remain nameless buying an Au Au Au eh Audi. It can't be coincidence that au is Dutch for ouch

Forgot to mention that one of the people who came to look at my 323 over the weekend says he was the guy who sold you the TWR (Mike from Uxbrdige way), he says he wishes he'd kept it!!

That's a bit weird!! May be he was just bigging up (or making up) his previous e21 portfolio to make me think he knew his stuff!
