Introducing, my 1980 320is.

Post by grasshopperKing »

Hello all! I am new to the forum. Based in eastern Cincinnati. I have had my e21 for about seven or eight months now. I found it on the west side of Cincinnati. It is originally a Florida car, and came with all of its original paper work. I am the second owner. The original owner traded in a 1979 Camaro Z28 for this car in January of 1980. Sticker price was just over $16,000. The car is all original, with the exception of the aftermarket suspension. Recaro seats are in phenomenal condition, other than some fading.

Hi, looks like a great car, in mint condition. Welcome here! Do you keep the roofrack on her permanently?

Thanks! I usually do keep the rack on. It's a pain to take on and off. And I do actually use it a lot. It's attached with straps and suction cups, so it doesn't damage the paint. It's an older home made job. But somebody did a pretty good job on it.

Seats! I haven't seen any others in this fabric yet...they need to be dyed back to black.

Nice! Parhaps they were retrimmed. Cloth pattern looks pretty similar to the original but indeed, then it should be darker. But prolly you'll loose the squares in the cloth as they will dye as well, but I wouldn't let that keep me eh you!

It's definitely original upholstery. The rear seat matches, and in all the folds in the fabric, you can see how dark they used to be. The little squares are actually raised. The back seat is being dyed now, and you can still see them. This was a Florida/ Georgia car originally, so I blame the sun.
