Weber carb kit 1983 316

Post by Alibaba »

Does anybody know if the Weber carb replacement kit is still available for the 1983 316 with a 2B4 carb? Webcon list the kit as 2267092400 on their "classic car carbs" list, but it does not appear on their list of kits for sale. Earliest they show is for the E30. I assume that the Weber kit fits the existing inlet manifold on the E21. Is anyone else still offering the kit in the UK?

I'd be interested to know if the 2B4 is generally thought to be nasty! Mine MoTd with very nice CO and HC readings but the autochoke makes the engine hunt when it's cold and seems to hang on to fast idle for some time - I can drive three miles or so before it starts to let go. I'd be much happier with a choke which I could control! Maybe the solution is to overhaul the autochoke!

In the kit, where on the dash does the choke control mount and can it be done reasonably prettily?

Cheers.

The E30 had an M10 engine so they should be the same I think - have you tried emailing them? You'll want something like a Weber 32/24 DMTL. There's an adapter plate for the manifold.

If they don't sell the kit new, they definitely still sell the rebuild kits as I bought one about 10 months ago - so you could buy a used carb and rebuild it if there were any issues. The manual choke control needs a hole drilling through the firewall, and gets mounted into one of the blank buttons either side of the steering column.

Thanks for all help.

I have bought a correct kit from http://www.fastroadcars.co.uk who have been superb in their attention to detail and speed of service. I shall use them for all Weber bits from now on!

Cheers
