Hi, is there any point in having a dogleg box for road use?
I understand there use in race/rally or regular track use but not for road, especially at the price they now demand?
Any thoughts?

I think it's supposed to have shorter ratios for quicker acceleration and a slightly lower top speed. First is left and down as opposed to up.
An optional extra with a premium price tag that I can't see having any real benefits over a standard five speeder apart from the rarity value. As Mark said the novelty soon wears off and I've had 2 E21's in the past with dog legs.
So basically not worth paying extra for unless one lands on your lap for the same price as a standard Getrag.

On track I liked them but motorway miles in what equates to 4th gear is no fun.

I think Arshad and Mark are right, however if like me, you dont plan on taking your car on the motorways, then the Dogbox is a desireable option.

I would agree with the above posts, novelty soon wore off , for standard use I now think the 5 speed o/d box is a better option
I have a dogleg in another car which I don't mind but in the e21 (1800cc) there seems no point,
