shite in what way? pedal feel/travel? bite on the fronts? excessive fade once warm?
first (free) thing would be to make sure the drums are adjusted properly.

They feel shit in a way that they bite to a certain point then dont seem to do much more regardless of how hard you press the pedal. My vans brakes are better!

id get the rear brakes adjusted first. you know how to do them?
the 17mm nut adjusters in the back plate (if the're not seized). as these shoes dont have leading and trailing edges as such you adjust each shoes resting place as its set via an offset pin on the bit your turning with the 17mm nut.
turn the n/s drum anticlockwise while turning the nut nearest the front of the car in the direction of rotation of the wheel. when the wheel locks up back it off slightly. turn the drum clockwise and turn the other adjuster nut till it locks and back it off a touch.
then do the other side in the same way. turn the whel clockwise while adjusting the nut nearest the front of the car. then turn it anticlockwise doing the other one.
id bob the drum off first to make sure all is well with the linings and that the wheel cyl isnt seized or leaking. and to check the adjusters arnt seized.

As for pads Mark, i think their just shitty unipart ones. Think ive got all the gear i need for the 323 brakes other than pads and hoses so ill adjust the rears and try get all that on. Dont know if the 323 calipers i have are siezed yet though. Ive had them for ages and they were rusty as fook when i got em.

I've found those brake lines. Maybe they'd fit a 6-pot? Or are the unions the same across all models?

Same except rear disc setup requires extra flexi hoses
