1977 316

Post by mupetmagnet »

Hi all

ive been loitering on here for a while now and thought it was about time to put a pic or 2 up of my car and say hello.

Her name's Betty, shes a 1977 316, 4 speed gbox, it has a genuine 31000miles on the clock. modification wise, so far ive fitted gaz coilovers, banded steelies (16x9.5" rears and 16x8.5" fronts) and ive yellow tinted the headlights..not to sure on these though so might be coming off. im going to fit clear indicator lenses 1st then make my decision.

heres how i got her

Nice early car.

Steel rims look awesome. What are they? Was talking with Jacko today about steels.

there 16" vauxhall steels. they were originally 6.5" but have been banded to 8.5 & 9.5" and the centres taken out to 57.1mm. there a very snug fit on the rears!

Those wheel look amazing! if you get the time on details of how to source and adapt at some point, that would be really appreciated. Oh and welcome of course :)

Both cool cars!

I was building an arched mk1 with a cossie a while back...a pretty common swap over there in europe. Also had a mk1 with a pinto and locked diff as my first car and had a 1300 mk2 van along the way too!

I remember seeing this car for sale and wanted it bad, i remember it being cheap and i loved the fact it was white. I'm going for some modern 15" banded wheels, funny how Mark and i were talking about wheels just the other day. I'm still not convinced by 16" wheels on an E21 but it does look good. Maybe i just like them to be really low on small wheels...

I shouldn't admit this on here but i think i prefer your escort to your BM. :whistle

I hope you don't take this in a negative way, but just goes to show that you don't have to spend shed loads of money on an E21 to make it stand out and look class. Love the wheels, the stance. I've never been a fan on single headlights, but they look the business too.
