Question RE Black paint on sills

Post by drjim »

Guys

Need to get my sills painted black while Shaun is finishing the rest of the paint, thing is I'm not 100% certain where the black goes to - is it below the swage at the top of the sill, or on it? Also which bit of the valence is meant to be black. There are so many pics of cars on the forum that I am not certain what the original was meant to be like. I vaguely remember Arshad asking the same thing years ago, but can't find his post, can someone with an original paint car advise??

Having said that I have a brochure somewhere, maybe that will have a picture that will show me.

Thanks

JIm

I can always take some photos. Alternatively I am in Manchester tomorrow, albeit about 6. Can have a look for yourself? If you mean the front valence, then mine and Jeroens are period correct AFAIK. Black stone chip for the lower part and stickers or matt/satin black paint for he fake vent grooves

Mine has never been resprayed.

Plenty of pics in my build thread.

The front lip is painted and the sills are black up to swage line under door. there's no black paint on rear. Jusy stone chip and non on rear valance between seams.

I've just gone back to black on the sills (cue the Amy Winehouse) in an effort to keep corrosion at bay a few years longer. There's a pic in my thread.

We have a paint shop and many cans of satin black, it was just the where bit I was unsure of.

Will try to get pics of that bumper for you today, had my neck looked at by chiropractor yesterday and am a bit more mobile/capable now!

Just below door is a lip. Then sill is painted from there on.

Mines been resprayed at some point but pretty sure all the black on the sills and front splitter bit is proper if you want to have a goose on the owners gallery ting
