Well the guy i was buying the seats droppped out so didnt get them :(
Bought some of that acoustic carpet stuff though to line everything once the interiors out but its just dawned on me that ive previously slapped a load of clear waxoil under the carpets last time i had it all out to prevent rust. That means im going to have to clean it all off before i can stick this new stuff in. Thats gonner suck balls :( Hopefully Gunk will shift it as ive got tons of that

I was going to go with recliners, but then these came up which i think will suit the car pretty well as they dont look like they came out of a spaceship. Got some Focus runners on at the mo so fingers crossed can butcher somthing up for mounting them.

Picked up my seats from Preston yesterday. Their pretty much in new condition. They came with Fiesta mounts on but there's no way i can use them so they've been taken off. The best bet i think is to do as Mark said and raise the mounts next to the gearbox tunnel to the same height as the door ones then put some bits of anlge across to bolt the runners to. It should sit just a little lower than the original seats and seems fine. Heres's a pic where their sat on some tool boxes at that kind of height.

Going to change the door cards to a dark colour to match the new carpet stuff as it looks daft. How to the door cards come off ? I alreay broke a tab on the rear ones.

Also made some brackets up from some bits of angle i bought at metal supermarket in Leeds. The guy cut me 2x 3m pieces and then kindly helped me to the van, opened the doors and slid them up to the windscreen (which was fine as i had put a big cloth there) But then he slammed the chuffing door which in turn smashed my windscreen! So that was pretty rollocks.
Anyway.... Im using 4 pieces for each mount and setting the height to the lower/gearbox seat mount.
Here they are being propped up by random junk before i bolt them in.

The lesson of today is dont buy cheap crap drill bits as you cant drill jack with them! There all ready to be made up as soon as i have the capacity to drill some holes but that will have to wait now.
Here are the seats in the car

I need to figure a way of attatching the old seat belt fixings to these seats next. Will prob go for a harness sometime but for now will have to use normal belts.

Oh man. can't believe the metal super market guy did that! Lol dozy old git.

Still ur e21 looks good. Although I don't understand why you have fitted acoustic carpet? It should be fully stripped out to save weight

He loves his comfort. Or is it a sound barrier thing.

Who's paying for the new screen??

I've got an old Britax harness you can have after the weekend. I've put a passenger seat in the e30 for Snetterton on Sunday, but it'll be coming out again straight after.

Weight saving Nas!! that carpet stuff must weigh as much as a box of tissues! Ive put it in cuz although im doing it up for the track i also want it to look tidy and sociable. I think it looks pretty cool!
As for the windcsreen i cant prove that the guy did it. The left door has to be shut first before the right one. He closed the right one first (which im sure did the damage) so i then had to open it again to close the left one first....(hope that makes sense). So i could have possibly done it myself. Anyway, its done now and aint nothing i can do about it other than get a new windscreen.
Ill be interested in that harness when your done with it Mark thanks.

Wow, that carpetting is amazing, great job. E21 carpets are normally shitty and old, and if this is a weight saving then it's win win. It looks fantastic. I run and have run with stripped out cars, these days I take all the sound deadening up and put the carpet back. I lose weight with tar removal but I keep the carpet for a little comfort, this is a brilliant solution IMO! How much was the carpet if you don't mind?

As far as i can remember mate it was about 30 quid posted for a 5m x 1.5m roll which was just about perfect for doing the floor and the parcel shelf. Its got a bit of stretch to it, so is good to push into shape using contact adhesive. Bit hard to get it around the seat mounts but that bit shouldnt be on show anyway.
I took all the soundproofing out other that the bit up against the firewall as i cant get it off without cutting it but might change my mind.
Making my own mounts for the seats seems to have saved me a bunch of weight too as the Ford ones that were attatched to the seats were well heavy, probably heavier than the seats infact.
Just need some dark door cards to mess about with now and it should look pretty good.
