Does anyone have a UK price guide for the BMW E21? I'm thinking about selling my Y reg manual 316, but I haven't found many on the market at the moment, so I'm finding it a bit of a job to work out how much I should put mine up for.
Thanks.

Re: E21 price guide
Condition is everything. Restoring a rotten e21 will cost far more than it's worth.
If you want to post photos (including any bad points) and I'm sure people will give you an idea of current market value.
I've seen 2 really nice, rust free manual 316's sell lately for about £3k. I've seen a couple of rusty, but presentable cars go for about £1 200.
E21's are a bit weird when it comes to values. Bottom line is, it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

Hi Mark,
I was not keen to start a 'what's it worth' thread for the reasons you mentioned, but here are a few pics and a short description.
-------------------------------
The worst bodywork parts I can think of at the moment are at the back of the sill on the drivers side, which will need repairing before the next MOT, a bit of rust on the drivers side A pillar and a bit on the passenger side rear arch, which is only on the outer panel at the moment.
Over the past year the radiator has been re-cored, brake and clutch master cylinders replaced and a new rear silencer fitted.
The mileage is around 87,000. Inside the boot is clean and rust free around the wheel arches.

Re: E21 price guide
I paid £800 for a 316 with similar exterior bodywork to that - but then got another with excellent condition body/chassis for only a couple of hundred more, so it's anyones guess really? With a fresh ticket/tax disc and summer coming up, you might get lucky!

Re: E21 price guide
I've bought a few similar non-MOT'd cars over the past year that ranged between 400 - 900 quid. Any manual 316 is worth at least 350 for the gearbox and single headlights. Sills can be patched I guess but replacement is about 400 a side plus. If you can see rust on the A pillar you can be sure there's plenty more that you can't. Obviously this is all just my opinion fella and others may see things differently.
Re: E21 price guide
Thanks for the comments. It does have six months MOT and tax, so that should help it along, but I guess I really ought to break out the welder and sort out that sill end before putting it up for sale.

Re: E21 price guide
Definitely. A solid car will always sell over a rusty one.
